Services

Therapy

I provide therapy services to clients presenting with a range of concerns, including operational stress injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression, workplace difficulties, grief and loss, general life stress, and relationship issues. My primary clinical orientation is cognitive-behavioural; however, I also draw on elements of other therapeutic approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused approaches, and mindfulness, when appropriate. In addition, I have training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that has been specifically developed for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.

I believe that therapy is a highly collaborative and dynamic process that, at its core, relies on the formation of a strong therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client. I prioritize trying to forge a strong and genuine connection with my clients. With that foundation in place, we can then collaboratively approach the task of identifying and addressing difficulties and, in turn, make needed changes. Ultimately, my hope is that clients feel well understood and well supported as they embark on the courageous journey of trying to improve their lives.

Psychological Assessments

I provide comprehensive psychological assessments for diagnosis and treatment planning for Veterans Affairs Canada, WorkSafe BC, and insurance companies. I also provide fitness for duty assessments for municipal police.

Fees

My current rate is $225 per 50-minute session. Cash, cheque, or e-tranfers are accepted. Psychological services are not covered by the BC Medical Services Plan. However, many extended health plans provide coverage for sessions with a Registered Psychologist.

Please consult your insurance provider regarding your insurance benefits and whether you require a medical physician’s referral in order for your sessions to be covered by your insurance. In general, I do not bill insurance companies directly, but you will be provided with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

I am a registered provider for Medavie Blue Cross for Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, and Veterans. I am able to bill directly for eligible services. I am also a contracted provider for treatment and assessment services for WorkSafeBC.

About

I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Victoria, and I have been practicing as a Registered Psychologist since 2015.

My primary clinical orientation is cognitive-behavioural; however, I also draw on additional therapeutic interventions (e.g. acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused approaches, mindfulness) when appropriate. I have experience in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults; though my practice is primarily focused on adults and late adolescents.

My particular focuses are in the assessment and treatment of trauma-related issues, including critical incident stress, in military veterans and first responders. I also treat workplace-related difficulties, grief and loss, life stress, and relationship issues.

I have worked in hospital, other institutional and private practice settings, and I have experience with insurance companies, Veterans Affairs, the RCMP, municipal police departments, and WorkSafe BC.

I am registered to practice in the Province of British Columbia, with registration number #2218.
